TLT grants estates additional time to sell taxi plates

After approval of a Joint Resolution, Abdi Salam Nur Osman, applying to renew a Vehicle-For-Hire Driver’s License was renewed on conditions at the Toronto Licensing Tribunal hearing of January 31, 2109, TLT members Victoria Romero, Melina Laverty and Moira Calderwood presiding.
All fees, documents and/or any outstanding requirements must be submitted within 30 days of this hearing or the license may be cancelled.
The license will be on probation for a period of two years. MLS may make additional checks of any driving, criminal, and bylaw charges and convictions against him and conduct other investigations, as appropriate, to assess compliance with the requirements of Chapter 546 of the Municipal Code and other applicable laws.
Before the next two renewals he must, at his own expense, provide MLS with an original up-to-date abstract of his criminal record and if during the probationary period the City has concerns he may be brought back before the Tribunal for a full hearing.
In another case, also after a Joint Resolution was accepted, Joseph Addai-Agyekum, applying for a Vehicle-For-Hire Driver’s License was issued the license on probation for three years. With usual condition of fees and documents being paid and up to date, MLS may also make additional checks of any driving, criminal, and bylaw charges and convictions against him and conduct other investigations as appropriate. If any new charges or convictions cause City staff to have concerns he may be brought back to the TLT for a full hearing.
A hearing into the application by Fasial Ashraf for a Vehicle-For-Hire Driver’s License was adjourned to February 28, 2019.
In other matters, the application for a Tow Truck Driver’s License by Prashanna was granted, subject to the conditions of being on probation for three years, and MLS may make additional checks of any driving, criminal, and bylaw charges and convictions against him and conduct other investigations to assess his compliance with the bylaw and other applicable laws.
Plus, prior to the next three renewals he must provide, at his own expense, an original updated abstract of his driving and criminal records, and he must report any alcohol or drug related charges or convictions to MLS within three business days. If City staff have concerns about his record during the probationary period he many be brought back to the tribunal or a full hearing. Written Reasons will be published.
The Estate of Dimitrios Deris, Vassiliki Deris – Estate Trustee, Holder of one taxicab Owner’s License, was given an extension of time to dispose of the plate until August 1, 2019.
Likewise the Estate of Mustafa Negah, Nadia Negah – Estate Trustee, Holder of one Taxicab Owner’s License, may remain in the Estate until May 1, 2019.
A hearing into Regional Stormwater Management Corporation o/a Regional Stormwater Management, Jamie Otis Atkinson, President, Applying for the Renewals of a Drain Contractor and Drain Layer Licenses was adjourned to February 14, 2019.
A Notice of hearing will be sent to Atkinson via email and regular mail notifying him of the adjournment date. Atkinson did not attend today’s hearing.
Ms. Calderwood excused herself of this matter.
